Rosalie Simon

Rosalie was born in 1931 in Velka-Kriva, Czechoslovakia, the youngest of six children. At just twelve years old, she was deported with her family to Auschwitz, where her mother and brother were murdered. Through extraordinary courage and luck, Rosalie survived selections by Dr. Josef Mengele and was later forced into labor in Germany. She and her four sisters endured until liberation by the American army in 1945 and were eventually reunited with their father. Today, Rosalie lives in New York, where she shares her story as a voice for those silenced in the Holocaust. She is the author of Girl in the Striped Dress.
