Meir & Doris Usherovitz
Meir Usherovitz, was born in Pabiance, Poland. Just before his Bar Mitzvah, in September 1939, the Germans invaded his town. In 1941 a ghetto was established within Pabiance. His family was then relocated to the Łódź ghetto in 1943. In. 1944, the Łódź ghetto was liquidated and Meir from 1944 to 1945 was sent 3 concentration camps, Aushwitz, Mathausen, and Ebensee. He was liberated in 1945 by the Jewish Brigade and placed in a DP in Italy to be transported to Palestine. He was the only one to survivor within his immediate family. Meir fought in the War of Independence in Israel in 1948 and was captured and placed in POW camp in Jordan. Upon his release from the POW camp he help reestablish Kibbutz Revadim, where he met his wife Doris Usherovitz. In 1957 they moved to Queens, NY. They have 2 daughters, Yael and Ronnit, son in laws, Chris and Michael respectively and 4 grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Alana and Koryn and a great-grandson, Charlie.
